What exactly is the PTA?
The PTA is every special event and program at the school your child enjoys for free (think Running Club, Basketball, Día de Muertos, Lunar New Year, Día Del Niño, Talent Show, etc.)
Joining does not commit you to anything beyond membership dues ($0-20/year). More details on membership here!
Come to meetings when you can. We vary the location and the topic of discussion throughout the year. (scroll down for more info!)
Volunteer only when you're able. Whether you want to volunteer for a one-time event or weekly in a classroom, there is no expectation of what you can commit to. More details on volunteering here!

Atkinson PTA meets 6x during the school year, on the second Thursday of the month, join us virtually or in-person starting at 6:30 pm.
You do not need to be a member to attend! Attending meetings means having a voice in your child’s school, and being able to ask questions, express concerns, and work towards growth. Don’t worry if you can only make one a year, or haven’t made it yet - we’re truly excited to have you whenever you can make the time.
All parents and staff are welcome, though voting is done only by members. If you’d like to become a member, you can learn more and join us right here.

No! All parents, staff, and community members of Atkinson are welcome at meetings, although only members can vote. If you'd like to become a member, you can learn more and join us right here.

Meetings generally begin with a 30 minute business agenda followed by an hour-long roundtable discussion on various topics. The PTA hopes that with both virtual and in-person meeting opportunities, we can make the meetings more accessible to all families. Some meetings may differ in the structure for round-table discussions and be a little less formal to allow for more time to mingle or participate in family friendly activities.

Requests for time on the general PTA membership meeting agenda may be made up to 7 days in advance; an item will be added if there is time available and the topic is relevant for a general membership meeting. Requests must be in writing and can be dropped off in the PTA mailbox (located in the school office) or by emailing the request to the PTA President.
Requests for time on a PTA board meeting agenda or funding proposals can be submitted to the board up to 5 days in advance of the monthly board meetings by dropping a note in the PTA mailbox or by emailing the request to the PTA President. The board meets monthly, typically on the first Tuesday of each month.
